04About

If you have ever finished an article about ISBNs and still not known whether you needed one, this site is for you.

Most publishing advice is written to sell something — a formatting service, a course, a distributor with a referral fee. It stays vague on purpose, because the specifics would make the recommendation harder to defend. Colophon exists because we got tired of that. Every guide here names the fee, the form number, the deadline, and the exact wording, and every guide tells you where the answer came from so you can check it yourself.

Nobody pays us to say anything. If we get something wrong, write in and we will fix it, and the colophon will say we did.
